Khataland's Yoga Pose of the Day

Downward facing dog pose:

 

How to:  Begin on all fours with hands shoulder-width apart on the mat, fingers spread. Tuck toes underneath and on a deep exhale, lift hips high in the air. Straighten arms and legs, engage elbows, stretch heels down to the floor, relax neck. With your body forming an inverted V-shape, take five deep breathes with nose breathing only.

Benefits:  Develops great strength and freedom of movement in your upper body. Focusing on deep breathing while holding the pose creates a flow of energy through the entire body, relieves fatigue and rejuvenates the body; improves the immune system, digestion and blood flow to the sinuses, and calms the mind and lifts the spirits

Note:  This pose is not recommended if the wrists are sensitive or injured. Please consult your physician or healthcare provider before starting any exercises.

 

Khataland's Mantra of the Day

Oṃ maṇipadme hūṃ (Sanskrit: ओं मणिपद्मे हूं)

One syllable on each deep exhale, focus on the breath and the sound resonating with your body. Repeat three times and meditate in silence for 5 minutes.
